New Year’s Eve can feel like a strange mix of hope and pressure.
On one hand, there’s that spark of possibility. On the other, the familiar noise of “new year, new you” — as if you’re a project that needs fixing.
So this year, I’m doing something different.
I’m making an anti-resolution list.
Not because goals are bad. But because the goals that actually change your life usually come from a calmer place — not from guilt, panic, or a January identity crisis.
In 2026, rest isn’t a reward for being productive enough.
It’s a basic human need. And when you honour it, everything else improves — your mood, your digestion, your sleep, your relationships, your ability to think clearly.
What I’m choosing instead: restorative rest that genuinely refuels you.
The “perfect routine” is often just another form of stress.
If your wellbeing plan collapses the moment life gets busy, it was never built for real life.
What I’m choosing instead: consistency that’s kind. Small habits that you can actually keep.
So many people come to retreats thinking they should be able to sort everything out privately.
But healing and growth don’t always happen in isolation. Sometimes they happen in the presence of people who feel safe — people who remind you that you’re not the only one.
What I’m choosing instead: community, support, and spaces where you can exhale.
There’s a difference between a full life and a life that’s constantly overflowing.
If you’ve been running on adrenaline for months (or years), your body will eventually ask for a different pace.
What I’m choosing instead: a slower rhythm that still holds ambition — just without the burnout.
A holiday can be wonderful. But a retreat is different.
A well-matched retreat is designed to support you — with nourishing food, thoughtful movement, space for reflection, and the kind of environment where your nervous system can finally unclench.
What I’m choosing instead: travel that restores me.
There’s a reason people come to Greece and say, “I didn’t realise how much I needed this.”
It’s not just the sea (though yes — it helps).
It’s the way life is lived: outdoors, unhurried, connected. The simplicity. The light. The food that tastes like it came from the earth five minutes ago.
Greece doesn’t demand that you become someone else.
It invites you to come back to yourself.
If you’re new here: I’m Gilly, and I live on the island of Kos.
I run Retreats In Greece as a specialist travel agency — meaning I personally vet retreats and match you to the right one, based on you (not just pretty photos).
