Maria Gkeme is a modern Greek Language Educator specialising in teaching Greek as a second/foreign language — and she's not your typical language teacher.
With a strong academic background and an even stronger passion for making Greek actually accessible, Maria has built one of the most vibrant online communities of Greek learners and philhellenes in the world. Her approach blends linguistic expertise with creativity, technology, and a deep love for Greek culture — because real language learning happens far beyond the textbook.
What makes Maria different:
Through her highly engaged Instagram community, Maria creates educational content that is as beautiful as it is effective — breaking down idiomatic expressions, etymology, and cultural nuances in ways that are playful, visual, and genuinely useful. Think edutainment, not grammar drills.
Her teaching philosophy is simple: learn the Greek that Greeks actually speak. The everyday, idiomatic, real-life language that makes you feel at home the moment you land on the island.
At the retreat, Maria is more than your teacher — she's your host, your guide, and your connection to Greece.
She curates every detail of the experience: the classes, the destinations, the meals, the activities. She brings her community to life in person, creating the kind of warm, welcoming atmosphere where learning feels effortless and friendships form naturally.
